Camp fYrefly 2020 and COVID-19
Last Updated: May 28, 2020
Hello campers, volunteers, parents, guardians and friends,
With the health and safety of everyone in mind, we have made the difficult decision to adapt our Camp fYrefly plans this year. Our team has been working hard to transition to online programming for the summer. We're excited to say that we are in the process of finalizing the details for our summer camp! The online camp will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 22nd to August 8th, and will feature workshops similar to those that have been held in Camp before, with leadership/personal development workshops and a few art-based workshops as well. There will also be an monitored online social pod group component! While we'll miss being there in person, we hope to still offer the chance for connection and growth.
Please note, our application deadline for campers has been extended to June 14, 2020!
We plan to contact each applicant who has submitted an application and to keep the website up to date with the latest information.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at with any questions or concerns and THANK YOU for your continued support.
about Camp fYrefly
Camp fYrefly Saskatchewan is an educational, social, artistic and
personal learning retreat for gender and sexually diverse youth (two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) and allied youth. The four-day camp is designed for youth between the ages of 14 and 24.
The camp is peer driven and jam-packed with drama, music, writing, visual art, empowerment and reflection exercises, anti-oppression work, personal growth opportunities, healthy socialization, and in-depth learning activities about specific youth topics and social issues.
about fYrefly in Schools
The fYrefly in Schools program provides free presentations and professional development training to elementary and high schools across the province.
fYrefly in Schools delivers content that is age appropriate, relatable, and relevant to students, staff and administrators. They take part in discussions that focus on reducing discrimination and increasing awareness of 2SLGBTQ people and concerns.
Through fYrefly in Schools and Camp fYrefly we are actively working to increase the health and wellbeing of 2SLGBTQ youth province-wide.
"The firefly is one of the only animals that produces its own energy. We want to move youth from feeling at risk to feeling resilient in their communities, so that their own light can glow in dark times."
